My love for hand knitting began with someone very special to me- my best friend of 38 years, Toni.  She taught me how to make my very first hand-knit blanket, and I was hooked!

What makes that first blanket so meaningful isn’t just that it introduced me to something I love. It’s knowing that Toni shared with me one of her many talents and passed along something that would eventually become such an important part of my life. 

What started as two best friends spending time together and making a blanket has grown into Handmade Hugs by Laura. Every  blanket, huggable, and handmade piece I create carries a little bit of the love, friendship and joy that started it all.

I’ll always be grateful to Toni for teaching me that first stitch- and for giving me a gift I never knew would become such a big part of my story.
